Trades 09/01/14

Lessons:

• STOP RANDOMLY SHORTING STOCKS THAT HAVE GONE UP A LOT - YESTERDAY IT WAS $AVTC, TODAY $MNGA - EVEN IF IT'S JUST 100 SHARES ... SHEESH
• WITH THE 100% MOVERS YOU'RE MUCH BETTER AT WAITING FOR THE AFTERNOON FADE THAN SHORTING IN THE MORNING - NEED TO REMEMBER THAT FOR THE NEXT $MNGA
• USE SMALLER SIZE ON WASHOUT!!! (RE $ZLCS)
• $REFG HAD NO REASON TO BUY AT THE OPEN WHEN IT WAS SO ILLIQUID UNLIKE $MJNA ET AL
• DONT ADD TO A LOSING POSITION!!! ESPECIALLY NOT A SPREADY SPIKY ONE LIKE $CNAT
• WHAT GIVES YOU THE EDGE IS BUYING DIPS AND SHORTING POPS ... RE $IPCI

Traded many setups right at the open and didn't have time to record the the first 30 minutes here realtime so I won't go into the usual detail today; 
Did really well the first 30 hour up $750 gave some back with silly mistakes but not many; Feels like I could have done much better but content with another $600ish day

Gappers: 2/2 +$110

Longs: 8/12 +$500

$MJNA one long and two shorts for $268
$AFAI on that BS PR chased to .13 at the open sold .16-.17 ... it hit .38 eventually, shoulda waited for more vol, next time +$285

$GMCR +$20 trader530 alert
$GOGO -$5 on news
$CRDC on alert on IL chat in 1.50 trying to make 10c +$62
$TELK +$35 alert on IL chat
$IPCI another pattern to test  - in 3.97 with 3.90 risk and 4.20 target; got out flat. scared it pulls hard 

$CNAT -$69 shouldn't have chased especially not with this sort of spread

$ARO tried small test chart in 9.10 risk 9.40s target; out for -$10 (and shorted it on fadeage)

$ZLCS big am move, big gap to fill on daily, dropped %10 intraday with SSR on. in 1.58 with 1.55 risk 1.70 target -$118 should use smaller size

$GALT tiny just to try the pattern; in 9.75;  9.50 risk 10.25 target; didnt work, too spready -$16; it then bounced off 9.50 and did make new highs but it was too spready for me to stick around; hit 11.25 eventually ...

Faders: 3/3 +$182

$ARO seemed fadey however not much downside so only looking for mini-panic if 9 breaks +$52 covered 8.90 as i had better things to watch

$MNGA on fadage - in 1.87 covered half 1.75 for $60, had ample opps to take more ended up covering rest at 1.84 as it wouldnt budge for another $20 total $80

$CNAT couldnt bear not to short this fade; spread got tighter and only tried 100 shares; in 11.80 covered 11.50 for +$50

Grinders: 1/4 -$75

$MNGA should tried with few shares -1.80 risk 2+ target in at 1.9; stupid knew it was the kind of trade i'm not comfortable in; had a chance to b/e and didnt take it after being down; had 1k where i would have only been comfortable with far less. -$80 annoyingly had i respected my 1.80 risk i would have been fine, hence i needed to use smaller size to feel comfortable; spiked to 2 moments after 

$ICPT first time bought premarket 170 and sold b/e ... bought again at 260 on grind with hod target risk 250; made $124 in 30 seconds so sold 270-5; nice sells it pulled back 10 points straight after

$PLUG on grind and SSR 3.75 3.70ish risk 4 target -$15 after being up 5c and bullish it started dropping and $PLUG being down %15 on the day and before lunch i bailed

$CNAT shorted against my good judgement ... at 11.30s and added 11.50s - really at the bottom there; got lucky with a 1/3 covered on a big dip, rest covered in panic as news broke out about an upgrade; down $100; argh I need to learn to stop making these mistakes especially covering in panic  like that - i suppose i was protecting myself from yet a bigger move up, but who's left to buy ... moving on

Shorts: 3/7 -$100

$FRO at pre 5.30 covered 5.12 for $18 - it hit 5.45 so risky but seemed like a big gap with no real reason
$MNGA -$82 like an idiot on 100 shares, how moronic; shorted "starter" at 1.25 covered at 2...
$FRO again out the gate it didnt look strong setting lower highs shorted 5.11 covered for 10c ish +$63
$PHOT -$16
$AYI another one for the archive testing the chart small position in mid 128s, 125 target 129-130 risk -$27 couldnt be patient with it

$MRNA up huge took tiny at .85 and covered .80 for $40; more patience (1min) and i had 10 cent more;

$IPCI after being long changed my bias and shorted som 3.95 with 3.85 target 4 risk -$24 too choppy and i had no edge; missed that snap that happened a few minutes later ...

$MNGA shorted again half size 1.72 anticipating 1.70 break ... covered 1.61 for another +$50
