Had $300 gains before the bell which allowed me to take it easy and wait for good setups instead of forcing.
Juggled too many positions at the open which didn't allow me to be patient with all of them, looking back i sold most near the top, so did a good job there with the exception of missing out on selling ZIOP calls for a bigger profit
Made just shy of $600 today, will be back for the final two hours, if I make any trades I'll update log
---------------------
Update:
Made two quick trades in the afternoon on CHOP, and one on VLTC see below
Brought today's total to $958
Lessons:
- With news plays, even in pre, wait for the pullback after the first spike instead of buying impulsively
Trades:
$BLFS held some o/n 1.30s, sold premarket 1.44
$BLDP on news in pre - cut it for a loss
$CLSN on news in pre; got in as soon as news was released, doh. got a really poor avg. averaged down a little to make it 3.35 and sold high 3.30s and high 3.40s for a $115 gain; could have been much worse, was down $300 unrealised at one point
$NVGN in pre, bought on a dip 7.56 sold 7.75; ouch ... didnt expect that to happen. shame, when it gaps up a lot it tends to give back gain
$CASM $RSYS in pre on news - cut it for a small loss
$BLFS re-bought before the open, looks like it has some more steam; sold at the am pop; got a bit too spready and unpredictable
$NVGN rebought before the open
$CLSN re-bought at the open - nice toptick sells
$IHT had some o/n sold for .13c
$ZIOP had some calls o/n , missed the sell out the gate as was preoccupied with other plays
$PTBI on news and low float; sold half into the inevitable pop, tried to be patient with other half, ended up selling it in the 4.20s, didnt have the patience to hold for higher (hitting 4.45 now)
Update:
$VLTC - yeek, luckily i took quick profits
$CHOP chase position, 2.75 break significant on the daily, should squeeze some more; and it did
$CHOP again
$VLTC looked very squeezy, not the best entry
