Trades 18/12/13

Lessons:

  • AM PARABOLIC SHORTS - WAIT AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TAKING A POSITION, AND PLAY SMALL WHILE LEARNING
  • $RSOL - TAUGHT ME AGAIN THAT I SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST *SOME* BUFFER WHEN I SHORT - 2c IS JUST NOT ENOUGH ... AFTER I COVERED IT WENT STRAIGHT BACK DOWN
  • NO MORE WASHOUT PLAYS (UNLESS IT'S A PERFECT WASHOUT BREAKOUT PLAY)
  • GO FOR THE BEST R/R PLAYS!!! SHORTING SOMETHING THAT'S FADING BUT ALREADY DOWN 25% OFF THE HOD ISNT GREAT R/R
  • $SYNM - CUTTING LOSSES QUICKLY VS CHOOSING THE RIGHT TIME TO TAKE A LOSS; TRICKY BUSINESS, TODAY IT WORKED OUT WELL

Traded only the am session - did well on $EZRH and $EONC - I have a good record of shorting the 100% movers, I should risk more on these moves
Got lucky on $SYNM, that is reduced my loss from $250 to $50 and traded $RSOL poorly

Gappers: 0/0

None

Longs: 1/1 +$160

$AZRH did a sudden death drop on no vol - grabbed 1k shares at 1.06 sold 1.22 +$160

Faders: 0/0

None

Grinders: 0/0

None

Washouts: 0/1 -$30

$PAY looked like it was slowly climbing up - until it wasnt -$30

Shorts: 4/9 +$3

$OMER 100 shares at 9.96 coverd 9.76 for $20
$BONI 1000 shares at 32 coverd 29 minutes before it collapsed to 22 +$30
$BWEN parabolic am short - tried 7.95 with 8 risk - managed to cover over 8 -$45
$BWEN 8.2 then added 8.45 with 8.50 risk and 8 target -$100 was only able to cover at 8.62;
$RSOL 2.51 trying to catch a 10c move - it bounced out for 2c loss -$30 it started to go against me
$RSOL tried again - this time tried to be more patient with it. -$70 - my entries were 2.50 whereas i should have been patient and taken the  2.55 entries if anything
$CW on g/r - has lots of room to drop took 100 shares at 59.20 trying to make a buck per share; covered 58.6-7 for $50
$EONC up 130% shorted 2.75 and added 2.85, 2.95 with 3.10 stop and 2.50 target; was down $150 when it almost hit my stop - gladly i used a wide enough stop as it dropped back down and i covered 2.70, 2.60 for $175
$SYNM turned out an interesting trade; stock has been down from 2.80 to 2.30 but still up 33% on the day and seemed fadey so I shorted some; not the best r/r considering the risk of a bounce and shorting so far from hod; and  bounce indeed came; "scaled in" on the way up too, as if that ever works; to make things worse i traded it just before i had to head into a meeting ...  eventually averaging up saved me as it came back down and i was able to reduce my loss from $250 down to $57.
